Are You Still Looking?

· Goal Setting,Motivation,Self-Improvement

Several years ago, I clipped out an article from my local newspaper that was inspiring. In it, were a picture and a quote from a speech given at the graduation ceremony at a local high school. Ms. Stephanie Conklin, who was one of that year’s Co-Valedictorians, shared the words that follow. Enjoy the wisdom of an 18-year old embarking on the next chapter of her young life and see how you can relate just once today.

Remember the Dick and Jane books and the first word you learned – the biggest word of all – “look.” Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. We should never settle for less, but always look for something more.

Are you still looking in your life? Right now, are you pleased with all aspects of your life? If not, where is there room for improvement, for change, for growth? When clients thank me for working with them, for all that I’ve done to help bring positive change to their lives; I always remind them the change came from them. My duty as their coach is to serve as a catalyst; the majority of the work is their own looking at themselves – their willingness to recognize a need for change and their ability to make that change. They accomplish this by not settling for the status quo but doing more, so much more.

" Waiting is a trap. There will always be reasons to wait….The truth is, there are only two things in life, reasons and results, and reasons simply don’t count."

– Robert Anthony
