Prioritizing for Importance

“When you own your own business, you only have to work half a day…………….you can do anything you want with the other twelve hours” – Anonymous.

Is this something you can relate to?

Is your laundry basket as full as your “in” basket? Today, many of us are struggling to find the balance between full-time jobs and full-time responsibilities at home. Meeting the demands of an increasingly fast-paced world requires having ways to maintain balance between our work and personal lives.

To cope, determine what truly needs to be accomplished – what’s really important vs. what you may perceive to be so. Rank these items by level of importance. Consider not only how this may impact you but also your loved ones, and again not just your perception of what they may want and need but what they actually tell you is important to them. If you’re not connected on this, it can lead to unnecessary frustration.

In creating your schedule, be realistic about what and when things can be accomplished. Expect the unexpected – plan ahead and plan for the unknown so you can be better prepared to face life’s challenges. Hasn’t life taught you that they do come all the time? Sometimes more than others but inevitably, they do come. So why don’t you plan for them – take the time upfront rather than after the fact when you’ll need even more energy.

Planning alone is only half the battle, sticking to your plan will bring you the success you strive for.

"Destiny is not a matter of chance; it’s a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved." – William Jennings Bryan
